Chef X @ Clarke Quay Central is an initiative by Far East Organization that provides home-based chefs and private dining chefs with a sandbox to operate their own full-fledged commercial restaurant within Clarke Quay Central mall for four or eight weeks. From 26 April 2024, each resident chef will serve out of a professionally designed F&B space fitted with commercial-grade kitchen equipment, with a dining area that can accommodate up to 24 diners.

Apart from physical resources, resident chefs will be offered guidance. They can look forward to receiving advice and tips - from menu planning, food presentation and recipe refinements, to business and human resource management, from Chef Isaac Tan, Head of Culinary & Product Innovations for Commonwealth Concepts (CWC), the F&B joint venture between Commonwealth Capital and Far East Organization. An industry veteran who has led dining institutions such as Bedrock Bar & Grill since its inception in 2008, Chef Isaac Tan currently steers 12 distinct brands under the group, including Fat Cow, Kinki Restaurant + Bar, and The Marmalade Pantry.

Each resident chef, who will helm the restaurant for four or eight weeks, will showcase their culinary skills and individual styles, cooking at the unit for dine-in customers, with the option of takeaway. The current line-up will see a rotating roster of four home chefs, cuisines ranging from asian platters, to heartwarming food inspired by grandmother’s kitchen and Korean kimchi-based dishes, to Japanese bentos and a seven course omakase.

Our third chef is Popo’s Kitchen, operating from 5 September to 30 October 2024. We spoke to founder, Jasmine, to find out more about her journey.

For two decades, Jasmine dedicated her life to nurturing young minds in the preschool sector. Now, it's time to turn her attention to another passion: food.

Inspired by her mother, a culinary icon in the family, Jasmine has always loved cooking. During the pandemic, she had the opportunity to explore this love more deeply, crafting meals for friends and family. While she started with Western and Italian cuisine, her heart has always yearned to recreate the traditional Chinese dishes that have shaped her taste buds.

Popo's Kitchen is a tribute to her grandmother, who was adored by her grandchildren. Like her, Jasmine believes in the power of comfort food to nourish both the body and the soul. Just as Jasmine approached childcare with care and dedication, she brings the same level of attention to her cooking. Her goal is to create wholesome, flavourful dishes that are both simple and satisfying.

Popo’s Kitchen will be offering their signature Kuehs & Snacks as well as Chef X exclusives!

Popular Kuehs & Snacks includes Soon Kueh, Mala Soon Kueh, Truffle Mushroom Soon Kueh, Ku Chai Kueh, Blue Pea Yam Kueh and Yam Cake.

Sexy Chicks available in Quarter Chicken Leg and Whole Chicken will also be available in a myriad of options. 
 
Other Specialities includes Fried Mee Siam with Sakura Prawns, Mee Siam Gravy with Sambal Prawns, Seafood Laksa and Bak Zhang.

Not forgetting Sides available! Choose from Roasted Potatoes, Achar Salad, Greek Salad, Mala Mixed Vegetables, Mixed Green Salad, Rice Crackers with Rendang Sauce, Special Egg, Collagen Mixed Rice and White Rice.
