bamboo bowls

Future forward, Asian bowls #FarEastStories
bamboo bowls is not your conventional plant-based bowl. You can expect healthy, chef-crafted, Asian-forward food, conveniently served in bowls; responsibly made and accessible to all.

We spoke to bamboo bowls’ culinary director, Chef Justin Hammond, to find out more about their journey.

Healthy Asian Fast Food

Found in 2019,  the founders were inspired by a similar restaurant concept from a New York establishment in 1950s – bamboo bowls is the modern version of it. bamboo bowls aims to change the game of fast food by providing fuss-free affordable healthy and sustainable Asian food backed by  technology.

You may be wondering how bamboo bowls is different from other healthy bowls? Well, bamboo bowls makes everything in-house. They create their own vegan fish sauces, balachan, vegan kimchi, vegan chicken stock,   sugar-free teriyaki sauce etc. Everything that goes into your plant-based bowl is made from scratch  with your health in mind!

The team at bamboo bowls takes pride in their craft and conducts research and development to create these intellectual products which in turn allows them to control what goes into your bowl.

Not to mention, their packaging are all compostable and they are working on reducing waste in the kitchen by reducing plastic and water usage and composting food waste.

Crafted by Chefs

The menu is the highlight of bamboo bowls with bowls named after cities in Asia. Chef Justin’s vision is to represent Asian flavours in his menu, he reached out to renown chefs from all around Asia and got them on board to formulate recipes based on the local flavours they specialise in. He then re-engineers these recipes to fit to bamboo bowls’ concept – it’s a collaboration between celebrity chefs  that brought about the diversity of flavours and options on the menu.

You’ve got to try out chef Justin’s personal favourites, Saigon and Sichuan.

From Bali to Tokyo

bamboo bowls’ menu brings you on a trip around Asia from Thailand to Sichuan, Saigon, Bali, Tokyo, Bombay, and Seoul that’s priced at a pocket-friendly $10 per bowl.

Not only does the menu take you on a trip, but the ordering process is also an adventure of its own! You can order your bowl via the bamboo bowls app and customise your bowl suited to your palate. Once your order is ready, the app will prompt you to head to a pod and once you are in front of the pod, tap ‘open’  on the app and your bowl will be revealed as the pod turns. What an experience!
