Our 8th baker at Baker X @ Orchard Central is Chatsworth Cookies, operating from 17 May to 5 June 2022. We spoke to the founder, Joan Wiguna, to find out more about her baking journey.

Joan’s penchant for thick, chunky, and gooey cookies set in motion her artisanal baking journey. She had just moved to Singapore and could not find cookies that truly satisfied her cravings – so she decided to try baking her own. Having some time to spare as she was settling down from the move, which was also the beginning of the pandemic in 2019. After tweaking her recipes and enlisting the help of her friends to be taste testers, the delectable handcrafted cookies blew them away! Joan then started selling after positive reviews from her friends. She initially started baking at home but as sales grew, she set up her own central kitchen to cater to the increasing demand.

Fun fact: She got the inspiration for the name Chatsworth Cookies after passing by a beautiful dream home in Chatsworth, Los Angeles on a stroll with her husband.

Joan hopes to be able to open a Chatsworth Cookies store or café next year, with dining space and expand her menu with even more tasty offerings! She wishes to share Chatsworth Cookies’ decadent bakes with as many as possible as her dream is for Chatsworth Cookies to be the go-to cookie bakery for everyone, regardless of the type of cookies they enjoy. Baker X will the first step to realising her dream!

Generously palm-sized, Chatsworth Cookies are thick with a gooey stretch in between. Look forward to their six signature NY-style cookies – Walnut Chocolate Chip, Triple Dark Chocolate, Matcha White Chocolate, Oatmeal Raisin, Cranberry White Chocolate, and Peanut Butter Double Chocolate. There’ll also be a limited-edition flavour in Black Sesame.

Their newly launched collection of bite-sized cookies by the jar will also be available in four flavours – Incredible Cookies (plant-based chocolate chip cookies for the health conscious), Nutella Tarts, Danish Butter Cookies, and Cereal Cookies. 

Specially created for Baker X, the Double Fromage Truffle Cheesecake is an added bonus that is quite different from their usual cookies offering! Be sure to get your hands on it from 17 May to 5 June 2022!

Baker X @ Orchard Central is a project to give budding home-baking entrepreneurs the opportunity to trial with a physical outlet and scale their business.

 

Through this initiative, Far East Organization aims to encourage the entry of new brands and enhance the business ecosystem in Singapore by providing customers with more choices and encouraging greater diversity.

 

Bakers work in a fully equipped baking studio and café, a physical space provided to them at no cost, over a period of 2 to 6 weeks to bake and sell.
