Our 9th baker at Baker X @ Orchard Central is Frosted By Fang, operating from 7 to 26 June 2022. We spoke to the founder, Su Fang, to find out more about her baking journey.
Frosted by Fang is the brainchild of an accidental baker, Su Fang, who stumbled upon baking and discovered her passion for this creative outlet. Su Fang has been running the business full-time since graduating from university in 2019. She discovered her passion as back when she was a softball coach, her classes were only in the late afternoon, and she has time on hand in the day which lead her to start baking by following recipes found online. She then started an Instagram page to sell some of her bakes to friends. Starting out, she mainly specialises in cupcakes and cakes. Now, she offers a wider variety of bakes from swiss rolls to donuts. Being a self-taught baker, she relishes the challenges that come her way in the process of building her business and hopes that her customers can taste the love behind her bakes.

Su Fang saw the project as a great opportunity to experience working in a brick-and-mortar store and also the chance to interact with her customers face-to-face. The prospect of baking for walk-in customers was also very exciting and something she never had the chance to experience due to being a home baker operating on a per-order basis.

Baker X @ Orchard Central is a project to give budding home-baking entrepreneurs the opportunity to trial with a physical outlet and scale their business.
Through this initiative, Far East Organization aims to encourage the entry of new brands and enhance the business ecosystem in Singapore by providing customers with more choices and encouraging greater diversity.
Bakers work in a fully equipped baking studio and café, a physical space provided to them at no cost, over a period of 2 to 6 weeks to bake and sell.
