Our 32nd baker at Baker X @ Orchard Central is Pastry Haven by Helen, operating from 20 August to 15 September 2024. We spoke to founder, Helen, to find out more about her journey.

Pastry Haven by Helen is a sweet testament to passion and perseverance. After dedicating a decade to her son’s early education, former accountant Helen embarked on a new chapter. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, she turned her passion into a thriving business with the help of Singapore's SkillsFuture initiative. A one-year full-time baking course at Shatec laid the foundation for what would become Pastry Haven by Helen.

 

Armed with freshly honed baking skills and an unwavering passion, Helen transformed her home kitchen into a culinary odyssey. Using only the finest ingredients, she crafted an enchanting array of pastries, from buttery financiers and fragrant cinnamon rolls to delicate madeleines and flavour-packed cookies. Her commitment to inclusivity led her to expand her offerings to include Keto-friendly treats, catering to a wider community.

What distinguishes Pastry Haven by Helen are the heartfelt testimonials from its patrons, who consistently extol Helen's creations for their delicate balance—not overly sweet, yet rich in flavour; soft, yet fresh and irresistibly delectable.

About Baker X @ Orchard Central

 

Baker X @ Orchard Central is a project to give budding home-baking entrepreneurs the opportunity to trial with a physical outlet and scale their business.

 

Through this initiative, Far East Organization aims to encourage the entry of new brands and enhance the business ecosystem in Singapore by providing customers with more choices and encouraging greater diversity.

 

Bakers work in a fully equipped baking studio and café, a physical space provided to them at no cost, over a period of 2 to 6 weeks to bake and sell. The cafe also houses social enterprise, Tea Ideas, which opens from Tuesdays to Sundays.
