Our 17th baker at Baker X @ Orchard Central is Chocolatea, operating from 6 to 20 February 2023. We spoke to founder Dawn to find out more about her journey. 

Growing up, Dawn had fond memories of her mother baking for her. She remembers how her mother loves baking Swiss rolls but could only make one rolled with fruit jam as she did not know how to make whipped Chantilly cream then. Dawn herself also bakes occasionally amidst her busy schedule. It was during circuit breaker in 2020 that she started baking more often. She started with baking her all time favourite chiffon cakes and moved on to Swiss rolls to try something more adventurous. She then launched a Christmas bake box as a mini log cake in time for the festive season then.

Dawn has always liked something a bit more than the usual, and that’s how she came up with having toppings for her roll cakes – which is the element that’s most well-loved by both her customers and her mother!
 

Being a part of Baker X @ Orchard Central

 

Dawn hopes to spread joy through her bakes and be able to witness how much her customers enjoy them. She also wishes to reach out to more customers and be able to gather feedback to improve on her craft even more.

From 14 – 20 Feb, choose from their Matcha Kinako Tart, Genmaicha Pistachio Tart, Matcha Kinako Roll Cake, Genmaicha Roll Cake, Genmaicha Pistachio Fat Mad, and Koicha Financier.

About Baker X @ Orchard Central

 

Baker X @ Orchard Central is a project to give budding home-baking entrepreneurs the opportunity to trial with a physical outlet and scale their business.

 

Through this initiative, Far East Organization aims to encourage the entry of new brands and enhance the business ecosystem in Singapore by providing customers with more choices and encouraging greater diversity.

 

Bakers work in a fully equipped baking studio and café, a physical space provided to them at no cost, over a period of 2 to 6 weeks to bake and sell.
