Our 7th baker at Baker X @ Orchard Central is Egg Sugar Butter, operating from 3 to 15 May 2022. We spoke to the founder, Felicia, to find out more about her baking journey.

Felicia left her corporate finance job back in 2018 and enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu (Tokyo) to study pastry making professionally. Upon completion of the diploma, she took up an apprenticeship at a local French tart pastry store to further hon her skills. She wanted an avenue where she could share her creation with others which led her to starting Egg Sugar Butter specialising in fresh cream cakes that light on the palate with minimalist design.
 

Being a part of Baker X @ Orchard Central

 

Felicia always had the dream of opening her own café but, due to costs and manpower concerns, opening a café would not be a viable option at this juncture. Baker X provided her with the perfect opportunity where she will be able to experience operating a café and materialise her dream as the same time.

Egg Sugar Butter will be offering their signature fresh cream cakes in slices for the first time and bringing back petit tarts and cakes that have since stopped selling on their website! Look forward to the classic Strawberry Shortcake, flavourful Matcha Roll Cake, rich Chocolate Rhapsody, zesty Lemon Meringue Tart, and the irresistible Tiramisu.

Baker X @ Orchard Central is a project to give budding home-baking entrepreneurs the opportunity to trial with a physical outlet and scale their business.

 

Through this initiative, Far East Organization aims to encourage the entry of new brands and enhance the business ecosystem in Singapore by providing customers with more choices and encouraging greater diversity.

 

Bakers work in a fully equipped baking studio and café, a physical space provided to them at no cost, over a period of 2 to 6 weeks to bake and sell.
