Our 28th baker at Baker X @ Orchard Central is Happy Low Carb Time, operating from 8 January to 28 February 2024. We spoke to founder, Lucy, to find out more about her journey.

Happy Low Carb Time Bakery is the brainchild of Lucy, a dedicated mother, and entrepreneur who turned her passion for baking into a thriving business. The bakery is the result of Lucy's remarkable journey, from her early career in the financial sector to her pivotal decision to become a stay-at-home mom.

The bakery's roots can be traced back to Lucy's sincere commitment to her children's well-being. Faced with their allergies to common baking ingredients like eggs and dairy, she ventured into the world of unconventional baking to create low-sugar treats that her kids could enjoy safely. It was this compassionate endeavour that sowed the seeds of her culinary creativity.

As her family embraced the keto lifestyle, Lucy personally experienced the transformative power of this dietary choice. Improved health, boosted energy levels, and an overall sense of well-being were the rewards she reaped. However, the absence of delectable keto treats, especially cakes, left a void in her journey.

Determined to offer a solution, Lucy, with the support of her loved ones, embarked on a quest to perfect keto-friendly desserts that were as delicious as they were health-conscious. Thus, Happy Low Carb Time Bakery was born. The bakery is dedicated to crafting an array of star desserts that not only cater to the keto lifestyle but also redefine the concept of guilt-free indulgence.

Being a part of Baker X @ Orchard Central

The opportunity arose as Lucy pondered opening a shop as she has been homebased for years and still loving what she does with the flexibility for her family. The thought of having a brick and mortar also got her thinking on the bakery style she would opt for - full bakery style or café style with seating. Hence the start of her journey at Baker X!

Happy Low Carb Time will be offering a wide range of their Keto bakes!

Keto & Low Carb Cakes & Cheesecakes are available in 10 flavours! Choose from Royal Keto Choc Feuilletine, Ondeh Ondeh Cake, Pandan Gula Melaka Cake, Lychee Rose Cake, Matcha Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Mint Cake, Signature Molten Basque Burnt Cheesecake, or Butter Cake Original. Try new flavours specially curated for Baker X — Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake and Lychee Jelly Basque Burnt Cheesecake. All cakes are available in both whole cakes and slices.

There are also Keto Cupcakes & Muffins options available - Fudgee Cupcakes, Chocolate Cupcakes, Lemon Cupcakes, Chocolate Bomb and Blueberry Muffins.

Delight in Keto Tarts available in whole tarts and slices. Flavours available are Divine Chocolate Tart, Orh Nee Tart, Lemon Curd Tart and 2-in-1 Strawberry & Blueberry Tart (available on Friday and Saturday only)

Keto Roll Cakes in Coffee Cake Roll (Nut flour), Mint Roll (Nut Free) and Ondeh Ondeh Roll (Nut Free) are also available in whole cakes and slices!

Prefer savoury bakes? Keto Savouries are available in 4 flavours — Cheesy Curry Chicken Pizza, Vege Pizza, Garlic Butter Cream Cheese Bun and Keto Chicken Floss Bun.

Baker X @ Orchard Central is a project to give budding home-baking entrepreneurs the opportunity to trial with a physical outlet and scale their business.

 

Through this initiative, Far East Organization aims to encourage the entry of new brands and enhance the business ecosystem in Singapore by providing customers with more choices and encouraging greater diversity.

 

Bakers work in a fully equipped baking studio and café, a physical space provided to them at no cost, over a period of 2 to 6 weeks to bake and sell. The cafe also houses social enterprise, Tea Ideas, which opens daily.
