Our 27th baker at Baker X @ Orchard Central is Tons Of Crumbs, operating from 23 December 2023 to 5 January 2024. We spoke to founder, Gladys, to find out more about her journey.

Tons Of Crumbs was founded as an online home bakery in 2020 amid the pandemic at a time when outdoor activities dwindled tremendously. Glady’s journey began with humble yet delectable offerings: Chocolate Brownies and Banana Crumbles. Since those early days, the menu has blossomed, now boasting an array of treats including cookies and cakes. Constantly evolving, Gladys refines her recipes in a continuous quest to delight the palates of her patrons. Today, Tons Of Crumbs remains committed to its roots, meticulously hand-baking each order to ensure every customer savours a moment of sweet satisfaction.

Gladys has always harboured the dream of operating her own shop, but the upfront costs associated with a brick-and-mortar store is daunting, especially considering the modest scale of her home business. Knowing about Baker X was a revelation; it presented a perfect opportunity for her to delve into the experience of managing a physical storefront without the prohibitive overheads and upfront commitments. Baker X is an excellent platform for Gladys to discover her potential in her long-held dream of running a business!

About Baker X @ Orchard Central

 

Baker X @ Orchard Central is a project to give budding home-baking entrepreneurs the opportunity to trial with a physical outlet and scale their business.

 

Through this initiative, Far East Organization aims to encourage the entry of new brands and enhance the business ecosystem in Singapore by providing customers with more choices and encouraging greater diversity.

 

Bakers work in a fully equipped baking studio and café, a physical space provided to them at no cost, over a period of 2 to 6 weeks to bake and sell. The cafe also houses social enterprise, Tea Ideas, which opens daily.
